Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary is the only place in Uganda where you are able to see Rhinos living in the wild.
The Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, is the home of 22 white rhinos, living in a protected sanctuary where the animals can move freely within a safe haven without the danger of poaching.
This sanctuary is the result of efforts to rebuild the Ugandan rhino population. A visit to this place gives you a rare opportunity to see the rhinos not only from a vehicle but also on foot. The white rhinos of Ziwa are large but very gentle, so approaching them poses no danger to you, as visitors are guided by a ranger who understands their behavior.
On-foot rhino tracking, is the most popular activity to do in the park, but it is also possible to do canoe riding, bird walking and night walking.
The sanctuary is located a short 3-hour drive from Kampala, and is located close to the road to Murchison Falls, which would be an ideal supplement to this trip.
